I worked with a guy who was swept out to sea. He and his cousin were playing on a float at the beach and the two of them got caught in a rip current. He realized they were going out to sea too late to swim back. They were three miles out before the coast guard picked them up.He was in his mid-twenties when it happened.

This little girl should not have been on a float. Her parents are irresponsible for putting her on a float in that environment. Even worse are those damn arm floaties. That’s one of the worst floatation devices ever invented. If the kid raises her arms, the floaties will slip right off. I watched it happen many times as a lifeguard. That’s why we banned them at every pool I worked.

Everyone here was extremely lucky. I hope everyone learned their lessons.

As I kid I got pulled out a bit while boogie boar ding with a friend. We were out waiting for waves when I noticed I couldn’t touch the bottom anymore, and my (taller) friend couldn’t either, which wasn’t a good sign. We tried to swim in but made no progress which was a bit freaky (didn’t know you’re supposed to go diagonally). Fortunately my friend’d dad spotted us and we were still shallow enough that he could stand so he was able to tow us back in.

The beaches we went to had strong longshore currents that would eventually pull you into a rip current. It was shocking to look up and not see our parents in front of us on the beach. Even more shocking was how far down shore we had drifted while body surfing.

Dude carrying her like  sack of potatoes. I would have held her. I’m sure she was terrified.

Jesus, who the hell puts a kid that young on a floatie in the ocean? I didn’t even  think they sold floaties like that anymore. My nieces’ are all more like life vests.

I haven’t seen floaties in a few years, but we haven’t been around a public pool in a long time. This video was recorded in Greece, so there’s no telling what they sell over there.

I was thinking how calm she was but after reading your post, maybe she was in shock?

So if you take a unicorn float into the ocean you’re going to run into some kind of trouble.
